Mentoring can be a magical experience-one that includes a commitment of time and energy in return for the satisfaction of taking part in the development of a young professional into a leader.

Mentoring is a critical component to professional and personal development, particularly in the early and mid- stages of a career. That's one reason why Toigo has made mentoring a cornerstone of our program since inception and continues to promote its importance through the Foundatin's leadership development program, APEx™.

Toigo believes strongly that mentoring is more than a one-time encounter or exchange. It's a responsibility shared by the mentor, the mentee and the Foundation. In the summer before the first year of the Fellowship, Toigo matches each Fellow with a mentor in Fellow's area of career interest-helping to make the most out of the exchange and guidance. For many, it represents the start of a rewarding lifelong relationship. Mentor relationships continue well beyond a Fellows MBA program and often play an important role as Fellows mature in their career development. The Foundation is pleased that many Fellows in its first fellowship classes are now serving as mentors to incoming Fellows.

As part of our APEx™ programming, we have developed a robust toolkit for mentors and mentees to ensure they forge strong partnerships.

Toigo mentors benefit from not only the one-on-one relationship with a Fellow, they also become a part of a vibrant and growing community of Toigo supporters. As part of this network, mentors benefit from industry connections, build awareness about the challenges and opportunities for diversity in the industry and often emerge as advocates for inclusion within their own firms.
