Apply for the Toigo Private Equity MBA Graduate Fellowship

The Robert Toigo Foundation designed and launched the Toigo Private Equity MBA Graduate Fellowship as an industry initiative aimed increasing career opportunities for minority MBA graduates in the sector. Serving as the MBA Graduate Fellowship's inaugural partner, global private equity firm The Carlyle Group has generously pledged $1 million over four years to support Toigo's launch of the effort and demonstrate the firm's committment to increased diversity.

The Rationale
Toigo launched its new MBA Graduate Fellowship as a way to help minority MBAs successfully begin their careers within the private equity sector.

  • In recent years, nearly 50% of incoming Toigo Fellows have indicated interest in pursuing careers within the alternative investment arena, with a strong focus on private equity.
  • With interest high and access limited, Toigo sought a solution - and reached out to private equity firm leaders to launch the new Fellowship. The Carlyle Group is the launch partner for the program.

Program Development
The one-year, three-part rotation format was developed based on feedback from private equity professionals as well as institutional investors, with both sides underscoring the value of young professionals understanding the different constituencies within the industry. Toigo's long-standing relationships with insitutional investors and plan sponsors were instrumental in the Foundation's development and launch of the Toigo Private Equity MBA Graduate Fellowship.
