Angelo Gordon & Co. (“AG”) is a leading, privately-held alternative investment firm that manages approximately $52 billion across a range of credit and real estate strategies. For over 30 years, the firm has been investing capital on behalf of pension funds, corporations, endowments, foundations, sovereign wealth funds and individuals. Over its entire history, AG’s investment approach has consistently relied on disciplined portfolio construction backed by rigorous research and a strong focus on capital preservation. The firm now has over 500 employees in offices across the U.S., Europe and Asia.
Today, AG offers investors a broad range of credit and real estate strategies. The firm’s alternative credit offerings span corporate credit, structured credit and lending. Specific areas of expertise include distressed debt, leveraged loans, structured credit, energy credit and middle market direct lending. The firm’s credit strategies focus primarily in the United States and Europe. Within real estate, AG acquires underperforming assets in the U.S, Europe, and Asia, where it can improve property performance using a value-add focus. In addition, the firm invests in commercial real estate debt, with an emphasis on CMBS securities, and in net lease real estate, focusing on the sale/leaseback of mission-critical, corporate facilities. The firm’s broad real estate platform allows sharing of expertise and knowledge across teams, strategies and geographies.
The firm has grown in a careful manner, pursuing those investment strategies that complement and build on core capabilities. By combining deep industry sector and market expertise with a collaborative, knowledge-sharing culture, the firm creatively seeks investment opportunities that allow it to exploit inefficiencies in global markets. AG has also taken a deliberate approach toward building and growing talent throughout its history. It offers a dynamic and empowered team environment where ideas are generated and brought to life by a broad and deep bench of talented professionals, many of whom have worked together for decades.
Angelo, Gordon is hiring a senior professional to help in continuing to develop the firm’s West Coast investor base with their primary focus on institutional clients. The firm has been highly productive in recent years from both a product development and asset-raising perspective, and the goal for this hire is to continue creating and growing partnerships with institutional investors in this region. This hire will be responsible for partnering with the regional head, to cover the West Coast territory of public and corporate pensions, endowments, foundations and insurance companies.
This person will be responsible for marketing the full suite of AG products to this West Coast investor base. This includes the firm’s credit, real estate, and multi-strategy products in funds and, on occasion, via a separately managed account. The breadth and size of these strategies require this salesperson to have a highly consultative, credibility-based relationship with these entities. The right person should have existing relationships with allocators in the West Coast, as well as the technical depth in key product areas to drive product-related dialogue over time. This person will have the opportunity to continue to build and manage a significant business for the firm.
In addition to developing and converting relationships over time, this person will help manage their territory’s relationships with existing clients. Although the firm has Product Specialists and Client Service professionals who provide important leverage throughout the sales and ongoing client relationship, this person will ultimately be responsible for retaining assets in AG funds and SMAs over time. This requires a long-term, partnership-oriented approach, which is key to the Angelo Gordon client philosophy.
Finally, this person should be someone who has the client approach that embodies the firm. Angelo Gordon is a firm with an unwavering commitment to serving its clients and holding itself to the highest professional and ethical standards. It values the long-term relationships it has with investors, and the firm is committed to putting their interests first. This person needs to have an approach that is truly aligned with investors and focused on creating strong, long-term partnerships. This person will need to be someone who can represent and further both the firm’s external brand and its culture over time.
