ROLE PURPOSE
The role of the Head of Fund Administration will be primarily focused on ensuring the financial integrity of Impax funds and related products, overseeing financial reporting and administration in compliance with regulatory reporting requirements through oversight of key outsource and service providers. Although situated in the US, this role will be for global mandates. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience in fund accounting, fund administration, or a combination of both, as well as a thorough understanding of regulatory requirements related to those functions and a strong attention to detail.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide robust oversight to maintain an effective and efficient infrastructure for global outsourced fund administration to ensure accurate and timely reporting of all fund regulatory filings, shareholder reporting and fund board reporting.
- Maintain a robust Investment Book of Record for global mandates, managing the design and outsource of daily, monthly and quarterly reconciliations as part of the firm’s internal controls and first line of defense.
- Oversee global tax services including global withholding tax outsource, tax guarantor services for restricted markets as well as provider tax provisions necessary to calculate income dividends and capital gains distributions and comply with distribution rules to maintain relevant Funds’ tax-exempt status.
- Review annual tax return filing for relevant mandates.
- Coordinate, oversee and support annual global Fund audits with independent auditors, maintaining responsibility for the engagement and rotation processes.
- Participate in the Funds’ Audit Committee meetings and finance-related presentations to the Board of Trustees.
- Keep abreast of mutual fund financial reporting developments, evaluate impact on Funds and update policies and procedures to address them.
- Ensure and maintain compliance with internal controls over financial reporting, evaluate risks and effectiveness, recommend and implement changes.
- Manage the global budgeting and fund expense function for Impax labelled funds, including determination of expense allocation methodologies.
- Standardize a valuation process including consideration of a Global Valuation Committee, the fair value process and maintenance of required annual due diligence of pricing vendors and other local regulatory reporting.
- Support strategic planning and budget process related to potential product launches or system changes including evaluation of cost/benefit analysis for strategic considerations to support, influence or challenge decisions, foster collaboration and facilitate growth.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE
Essential
- 10+ years of related fund accounting experience
- B.S. in Accounting and/or Finance or Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting and/or Finance
- The candidate should be detail-oriented and numerically proficient with natural curiosity, and an innovative approach to problem solving
- Possess in-depth knowledge of all aspects of mutual fund regulatory requirements and taxation
- Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Possess technical skills required to perform, manage and evaluate departmental functions and systems
- Possess and demonstrate a high level of integrity, ethics and professionalism
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required
Desirable
- Previous experience of serving as an Asset Treasurer for the Funds and acting as the primary contact for the Funds’ service providers
