Human Resources Manager

Job Summary

This professional will be an integral member of Investure’s Human Resources & Administration Team.  We are seeking a reliable and execution-oriented HR professional with prior HR experience who is looking to develop a career and gain additional expertise in human resources and people management with a mission-driven organization with a focus on continuous improvement and employee engagement.  Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this individual will be responsible for performing a variety of HR and related administrative duties as outlined below and over time taking on increasing responsibility for a variety of employee personnel matters.  The ideal candidate possesses prior experience in one or more areas of human resources along with strong project management skills, a high degree of personal integrity as is necessary for handling individual employee information, and a strong interest in supporting employee engagement and development.  In addition, this person should be self-motivated and capable of managing their workload with minimal direction while prioritizing competing tasks.

 

The Company

Based in Charlottesville, Virginia, Investure was founded in 2003 to serve as the outsourced investment office to endowments and private foundations.  Managing assets of approximately $18 billion, Investure is responsible for asset allocation and manager selection in multiple asset classes including but not limited to fixed income, global public equities, and alternative investments (hedge funds and private equity).  Investure is a fast-paced, high-energy culture where there is a vast opportunity for learning.  The firm operates with a hybrid schedule of three days in-office and two days of remote work.

Responsibilities

HR Functions

  • Recruitment and Hiring
    • Facilitate and support Investure’s full cycle recruiting processes for all teams, working closely with department-level hiring managers to draft and maintain relevant job descriptions and to post positions across a variety of online and other channels; Work closely with Investure’s Investment Team to oversee on-campus and other recruiting processes for Investure’s intern and analyst programs
    • Coordinate candidate communications, interview scheduling and interview follow-up both internally and with candidates in partnership with hiring managers
    • Draft offer documentation and facilitate other pre-hiring processes
      • Liaise with colleges and affinity groups to ensure Investure is represented at recruiting events and activities; coordinate communication with applicable Investure attendees
      • Manage application processes and deadlines, including various college offer and acceptance policies
    • Become power user in Investure’s HRIS system (BambooHR), training others internally on the applicant tracking process and ensuring information is documented and updated
    • Liaise broadly with headhunters and executive recruitment firms for external searches, as needed
    • Provide regular recruitment updates to senior management
  • Employee Onboarding / Offboarding Processes
    • Coordinate and help execute onboarding processes for all new hires, including pre-employment authorizations and benefit orientation and enrollment
    • Work with the technology group and other administrative team members to ensure employees have the resources to work successfully – trainings, computer equipment, building access, etc.
    • Work with department managers and supervisors to develop detailed onboarding training schedules for new employees and to implement certain check-ins with new employees over the first 90 days to help support a successful transition
    • Coordinate employee departure and offboarding processes, including with other involved Investure teams.
  • Engagement, Feedback, and Performance Management
    • Oversee Investure’s employee engagement and performance management process and platform (Culture Amp). Work with managers across the firm to implement the mid-year and year-end feedback processes as well as train employees on how to use system and troubleshoot questions
    • Facilitate individual annual goal setting sessions and employee training and development goals
    • Seek out and promote individual and firmwide training opportunities
    • Coordinate and support DE&I initiatives for recruiting and employee training and learning
  • Benefits
    • Develop strong understanding of Investure’s benefit offerings to provide employees with all relevant information
    • Monitor and communicate regulatory changes
    • Manage Investure’s annual open enrollment process with a variety of benefit providers
    • Maintain and update employee information in Investure’s HRIS; assist employees in making changes and troubleshoot, as needed
    • Research benefit offerings, service providers, and the market vendors to ensure Investure is competitively positioned
  • Data, Records & File Management
    • Ensure employee information is up to date in all systems; make relevant changes as part of onboarding/offboarding process
    • Manage and post company files to Investure’s HRIS (BambooHR); track and maintain employee files and coordinate documentation, as needed
    • Maintain and update Employee Handbook and other written employee policies and guidelines
    • Develop and maintain thorough human resources procedure documentation and checklists
    • Oversee the tracking of vacation and leave within BambooHR and process rollover time Assist with quarterly departmental compliance checks
    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and unemployment postings
  • Event Planning and Execution
    • Work with other members of the HR & Administration Team to design and execute a variety of employee engagement and networking efforts, including office-wide events and celebrations
    • Assist with planning and implementing semi-annual company offsites with an employee working group
  • Office Management
    • Periodically assist HR & Administrative Team with answering phones, redirecting calls, and serving as back-up for other administrative tasks to support a smoothly functioning office environment

Education, Experience & Skills

  • College degree in human resources or related field, such as business highly preferred
  • At least 2 years of direct human resources and/or recruiting-related experience
  • Proactive self-starter who works independently with minimal direction
  • Strong planning, organization, and follow-through skills; ability to think ahead and anticipate issues and important details
  • Ability to multitask effectively; strong time management capabilities
  • Good attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong professional written and oral communications skills (email, phone, in-person)
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite; experience with BambooHR a plus
  • Interest in and ability to learn new technology applications to support efficiency and data management in the human resources function; comfortable inputting and extracting information from required systems and databases
  • Judgment and decision-making ability; problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Responsive and flexible; ability to adapt well to changing priorities
