The Sponsor Coverage hire will work on the Direct Lending team, which focuses on providing senior secured credit facilities to performing private credit middle market companies. The team is seeking a candidate to join the New York team with the following specific responsibilities and qualifications:

• Originate middle market direct lending opportunities primarily from private equity financial sponsors
• Work closely with the underwriting team to arrange senior secured credit facilities
• Prospect and cover sponsors that target middle market borrowers with EBITDA generally ranging from $15 million to $50 million where Marathon will hold $25 million to $150 million
• Work closely with the underwriting team through the due diligence, underwriting, approval and closing process
• Negotiate and review term sheets, credit agreements and associated legal documents
• Supervise and mentor junior professionals

• Bachelor’s degree from top tier university
• 10+ years of experience required
• Leveraged finance background required
• Demonstrated strong work ethic, commitment to excellence, and unquestionable integrity
• Highly motivated self-starter who is coachable; willing to embrace a collaborative firm culture
• Possess superb written, verbal, and interpersonal communication and presentation skills
• Strong quantitative and financial modeling skills
• Analytically strong and intellectually inquisitive

The average salary for this role $150,000-$250,000 in base pay and is exclusive of any bonuses or benefits. The base pay offered will be determined based on your experience, location, skills, training, certifications and education, and in addition we will also consider internal equity and market data. We do not anticipate that candidates hired will begin at the top of the range however, from time to time, it may occur on a case by case basis.
